Geomancy is the divinatory art most shed in Africa and in the Arabic peninsula. This is the simplest one of future telling ways, a little bit of sand, some signs on the ground, a little theosophical calculation and the verdict is immediate, the future unfolds itself under our eyes.

The toss of the "figures" is quite easy, throw on paper or trace on sand (or use small stones, lenses or beans) 4 groups of 4 lines of signs (13 signs a line to the minimum, 21 to the maximum) in itself concentrating on the question to resolve.

Do the account of line points by line, an even result is worth 2 round ones, an odd result, it is worth 1 round one.

Build next the 4 "mothers" (houses 1, 2, 3, 4) according to the result, knowing that the 1 line of the 1 mother is originating from of the 4 toss, the 2 line of the 3 toss, the 3 one of the 2 one and the 4 one of the first one. Same thing for the 2d Mother while using successively the 8, 7, 6, 5 one and so on until the 4 one.

Then to generate the daughters (houses 5, 6, 7, 8) from the lines of "mothers" according to the 1st principle line = 1st daughter, 2nd line = 2nd daughter and so on.

Generate next the nephews (houses 9, 10) while assembling 2 to 2 the figure 1 & 2, 2 & 4, knowing that even = 2 points and odd 1 only point while additing line after line (from bottom to top).

Then the nieces (houses 11, 12) with 5 & 6 and 7 & 8. Do next to go out the "witnesses" (houses 13,14) from the nephews and nieces.

And at last, extract the "judges" (house 15) from the witnesses.

For example, the figure above is obtained from the following toss (1 for odd line, 2 for even line) 2, 1, 2, 1 / 2, 2, 1, 2 / 2, 2, 1, 1 / 1, 1, 1, 1 which ones one generate the 4 mothers : square 1 = 2, 1, 2, 1 / square 2 = 2, 2, 1, 2 / square 3 = 2, 2, 1, 1 / square 4 = 1, 1, 1, 1 in cash 257 points at all.

While taking the 1st line of each of the mothers, one extracts the daughters square 5 = 2, 2, 2, 1, the 2nd line, square 6 = 1, 2, 2, 1, the 3rd line, square 7 = 2, 1, 1, 1, the 4th line, square 8 = 1, 2, 1, 1.

For the nephews, while assembling squares 1 & 2, square 9 = 2, 1, 1, 1, squares 3 & 4 square 10 = 1, 1, 2, 2.

For the nieces 5 & 6 square 11 = 1, 2, 2, 2, and 7 & 8 square 12 = 1, 1, 2, 2.

The left witness addition of 9 & 10, square 13 = 2, 1, 2, 2, and the one right 11 & 12, square 14 = 1, 2, 1, 1.

The judge, addition of witnesses (13 & 14) square 15 = 1, 1, 1, 1 and the destiny (addition of the judge and straight witness) square 16 = 2, 1, 2, 2.

The response is obtained directly by the reading of the square that is concerned by the question (to see the definition below), examination of the two witnesses, and analysis of the judge and destiny. The squares containing a figure the same as the one of the one of these squares plays an equally a role in the response. The squares not directly concerned by the response must not be read.

NB: it is necessary that one of the squares concerned by the question contains a figure of the day so that this one is considered as convincing. In the opposite case, proceed to a new toss the following day.
